Social & Charity
In 2016 at our social event at Rumana Restaurant, it was attended by 83 diners and a sum of £500 was raised through the generosity of Masons and non-Masons. Once more it was a very enjoying experience of fine dining. This year we have supported the North Air Ambulance Service with the sum of £4,500.00, the Teddies for Loving Care with the sum of £100 and the Friends of Scarbrough Court with £100.
As raising funds for deserving charities is one of the most important pillars of Freemasonry, we will continue with this important work in the coming year.
In 2015, the Brethren of St Gabriel Lodge held 2 Social Events to raise fund for the Great North Air Ambulance service, TLC (Teddy Bear Appeal) and St Oswald’s Hospice.
Our first social event held at the Rumana Indian Restaurant and was attended by 58 diners. We raised a sum of £750.00. It was such a successful night of fun and fine dining that a similar one has been organised for 18 March 2016.
The second social event was an open buffet held at Byker Masonic Hall. Once more it was a success attended by 45 persons and a sum of £450.00 was raised. A group of non-masonic diners who attended was very impressed after a tour of our Temple. They were impressed with the excellent work undertaken by the Craft. A similar event will be organised at a later date.
So far in 2015, £200.00 has been given to the Great North Air Ambulance Service, £200.00 to the TLC and £50.00 to St Oswald’s Hospice.
We hope to raise as much fund as possible for deserving causes by the generosity of our Brethren and non-masonic well-wishes.
